Job Summary:
The Web Development Manager will be
responsible for redeveloping and managing the American Solar Energy
Society’s website, including database integration and user interactivity.
This is a full time position based in Boulder, Colorado.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop an industry-leading
website that provides the user-friendly information and functionality
needed to help the organization speed the transition to a sustainable
energy economy.
- Develop a Web Strategic
Plan with the vision and roadmap for web design modifications, enhanced
functionality and user-friendliness needed to meet the needs of targeted
web users.
- Conduct a thorough review
of the current website to assess its strengths and weaknesses and opportunities
for improvements to better meet the needs of web users.
- Identify and clarify priorities,
milestones, and schedules, based on stakeholder feedback.
- Determine budget impacts
and provide recommendations for properly managing costs.
- Provide the necessary web
programming and configuring needed to successfully deploy the enhanced
functionality needed, based on industry best practices.
- Test web functionality/design
to ensure that it is clear, intuitive and user-friendly. Troubleshoot
website problems, ensure cross-browser compatibility and increase web
traffic.
- Manage usability testing
process with internal and external users to evaluate effectiveness of
site.
- Implement Web Strategic
Plan on-schedule and within the budget.
- Integrate website with
member databases, software, plug-ins, and social networking websites,
as appropriate.
- Develop recommendations
strengthening e-commerce strategy.
- Manage and collaborate
with external technical or graphic design vendors.
- Develop and implement web
backup, maintenance, upgrade, security and restore strategy.
- Develop home page update
schedule to ensure content and images remain fresh, interesting and
appealing.
- Incorporate search engine
optimization best practices to ensure high rankings on search engines.
- Track web usage, monitor
Google analytics and provide monthly reporting on web usage.
- Train staff members and
others on how to use the content management system and update web content.
Document procedures and provide user trainings as needed.
- Perform other related duties
as assigned.

- Technologies – demonstrate
moderate-to-advanced proficiency of Joomla, PHP, MySQL, CSS, Javascript,
AJAX, and other web programming technologies, as well as search engine
optimization best practices.

tasks, identify milestones, develop schedules, manage resources.

and develop solutions.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer
Science (or related field), plus 4-6 years of experience managing or
leading successful web development efforts.
- Demonstrated experience
and expertise with content management system administration (Joomla
preferred).
- As the primary technology
leader for this organization, this individual must possess a broad and
diverse set of computer/IT-related skills and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience
with CSS, PHP, SQL and the Joomla CMS.
